The air in Raleigh has been warm. Like, "Florida in June" warm. Temperatures have exceeded 80 degrees for three straight days now. So, along with practically everyone else in Raleigh, we headed outdoors.
Our destination yesterday was William B. Umstead State Park again, but we chose a trail that is new to us, accessible from the south entrance to the park which we hadn't been to before.

Isn't this awesome? I can't believe we're lucky enough to live in an area with so many parks like this within a half-hour drive of our home!

Gavin enjoyed royal treatment again by hitching a ride for the entire three-hour hike.

The sun beat down on us through the bare trees so we lubed Gavin up with some sunscreen. Just six days earlier he frolicked in the snow! We have such crazy weather here.

We stopped every half hour or so for a water break.

The Company Mill Trail is 5.8 miles long. Gavin slept for half that distance.

Towards the end of the day, we let Gavin explore the trail on his own two feet.

Gavin absolutely loves walking and had a great time!

This day also marked Gavin's first diaper change in the woods. Just to prove I don't take photos of everything Gavin does, here's another walking photo.

I'll end with one of Gavin's newest expressions. Lately, he smiles really big, scrunching his nose and bearing his teeth. It's really not the most flattering face, but still completely adorable!
