Gavin started making this throat clearing noise on his own, but was also quick to imitate me when I prompted him with a clearing of my own throat. Perhaps he genuinely had a tickle, but then decided to play Monkey-See-Monkey-Do. Between throat clearings, you'll see him try to elicit a response from me, first with his lip-smacking kissy noises, and then more subtly by licking his upper lip. He has been chuckling at us all week whenever he sees us copying his lip-licking. If this was a game of Monkey-See-Monkey-Do, I'm not sure which of us was the monkey.

Gmummy said... He reminds me of a mocking bird who sits on a fence and chirps through all the sounds he knows to imitate, then does it all over again.
